Stress free gliding

A gentle convergence behind Tauranga gave rise to an easy 2 hours spent back in the saddle. It's been a month since the mightly Discus has seen the light of day.
Nothing exciting, just smooth 3 knot thermals and a well marked convergence from the Kaimai's down towards Edgecumbe.

Quite blue to start with but no wind.

Even blue..er in the Waikato....nothing doing over there.

Airstrip just behind the high point....scroll down to see more

Convergennce looking East

Yet another airstrip...in use at the time with a Fletcher spreading fertiliser

the port of Tauranga chocker block due to strike action in the "Big smoke".
A fall back position perhaps, if you attempt to cross the Kaimai's in a westerly...and fail

Land uphill...ie in the direction the arrow indicates

Papamoa Hills strip...clearly usable today...7-800ft above sea level...whcih probably means at 500ft above the strip you can get back to the airport and use 16/34.
