Late Afternoon Thermals

As the temperature dropped in the lee of the Kaimai's the last of the heat on the western side fuelled the last thermals.
The angle of the winter sun will have caused the western side to stay quite warm until sunset whereas the eastern side started cooling 2-3 hours earlier. The temperature differential will have caused a line of thermals on the ridge line of the Kaimais.
